Luminol

Luminol is a chemical compound formulated by C8H7N3O2 capable of generating chemical light.

Luminol is a chemical compound formulated by C8H7N3O2 capable of generating chemical light. Normally, it takes the form of a solid crystal with a yellowish-white color, soluble in most polar organic solvents, but insoluble in water. When mixed with a suitable oxidizer it gives a distinctive glowing blue color.

It is a chemical compound manufactured in 1902 in Germany.

Luminol is used in forensics and technology. Traces of blood left at the crime scene are detected, even if this blood has been wiped and is no longer visible, as luminol reacts with the iron element found in the blood hemoglobin giving a blue glow indicating the exact location of the traces of blood
