This came in the tweet by the prime minister of Qatar Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, on his Twitter account.

 

“The day after tomorrow (Monday), the first shipment of Covid 19 vaccine will arrive,” he said.

 

He added, “I have directed the health sector to provide it to every one according to our health standards. This is an important step on the road to containing the epidemic and gradually returning life to normalcy.”

 

Al-Thani expressed his pride in the success of Qatar’s plan to confront Corona, without details on the number of vaccines and other shipments.

 

And on Wednesday, the medical director of Hamad General Hospital (governmental), Youssef Al-Maslamani, said, “Doha has conducted meetings and correspondence since announcing the provision of the vaccine, and has also taken proactive steps to provide it.”

 

In statements to the local media, he indicated that the two global companies, “Moderna” and “Pfizer”, had been contracted to provide the vaccine, but he did not mention the number of vaccines that would reach the country.

 

Doha will provide the vaccine free of charge to all residents of the country, citizens, and expatriates, according to Abdul Latif Al-Khal, head of the National Strategic Group for Coronavirus in Qatar.

 

As of Saturday, the total number of HIV infections in Qatar reached 141,858, including 243 deaths, and 139,521 recoveries, according to the Ministry of Health.

 

According to the Planning and Statistics Authority, the number of Qatar’s population of citizens and expatriates until the end of 2019 was about 2.8 million.
