Warnings from websites collecting their users’ data over phones

Experts at the company pointed out that they analyzed the data of more than 200 applications from 20 categories spread in the App Store, and the results showed that applications belonging to popular social networking sites and networks are used to record and know users’ activities via phones, including YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, Telegram, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Messenger and WhatsApp.

The results of the studies showed that YouTube and TikTok applications are the “most active” in terms of tracking user data, while Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Messenger ranked second with almost twice as much less in terms of data tracking.

According to experts, “10 out of 14 YouTube users, for example, have been found to be connected to unified servers to show videos, meaning that the site’s platform tracks users’ geographic location, browsing history and other activities, and exploits that data for commercial purposes, for example, advertising may be directed to them.”
